Volunteering at the Purple Elephant
The Purple Elephant has over 150 active volunteers consisting of retirees, students, professionals. non-professionals. Our volunteers range in skill level from computer novice to skilled professionals. We do not have a formal training program, but assign tasks based on our needs and volunteers' skills. We are always happy to welcome new volunteers.
During our normal working hours, we accept donated computers, distribute refurbished computers, refurbish the computers, do administrative work, and perform other general maintenance activities. We post our current volunteer opportunities on the Triange Gives Back site. Volunteers interested in more technical activities need to be able to commit to volunteering 5 hour a week.
We also occasionally hold Saturday "Hardware Party" events, when a larger group of volunteers get together for specific activities. These are normally scheduled for every couple of months. Volunteers are notified via email approximately two weeks prior to an event, with details about what we will be doing.

Volunteers do many thingsVolunteers at the Purple Elephant have the opportunity to do many different types of things, based on their skills and the needs of the PE. In addition to the obvious need to "refurbish" a computer, there are several other areas of activities that need volunteer support. |
