Hodges Family Foundation funds PCs for Big Brother Big Sister

Doug Hodges, a local PGA Professional, has been a long time supporter of Big Brother Big Sister (BBBS).   Recently, the Hodges Family Foundation, which he founded, provided funding for 15 refurbished systems to go to children associated with BBBS of Raleigh.  Doug personally picked up the systems from the Purple Elephant for delivery to BBBS.   While at our facility, he and Dave Hinton, managing director of Purple Elephant, chatted for a few minutes in front of the PE's unique elephant.

The Purple Elephant delivers PCs funded by the Purple Elephant Walk and Stampede!

On August 8th, the Purple Elephant hosted our first annual Purple Elephant Walk and Stampede, a 5k run and 1 mile walk. All proceeds from this successful event went to fund the donation of refurbished PCs to the families of over seventy underprivileged students through the YWCA of the Greater Triangle and the Brentwood Boys and Girls Club.

Delivering on the promise of it's Purple Elephant Walk, the Purple Elephant's director, David Hinton, and volunteer Faye Sinclair were on hand to help distribute PCs to families sponsored through the Brentwood Boys and Girls Club in late September and to the YWCA-sponsored families on October 21. Each family received a full desktop system: including a CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and a CD of free software.
